Program Note

Along, Upon, Towards is a collection of three short movements, each a reflection on Blosseville Coast, a remote stretch of Greenland's southeastern coastline. Since an early age, I've been drawn to this particular location, scouring the area on Google Maps day by day, fascinated by the beauty of its topography, terrain, and overall geography: the coastal fractal patterns, the sheen of drifting ice, both the tragedy and beauty of its inaccessibility, and the ill-fated attempts to reach the coastline. For this very reason, Blosseville Coast represents, to me, a childhood curiosity that never ends; one that meticulously traces edges, vividly imagines seeing, and hungrily chases after; one that naively believes that moving along, being upon, and running towards are all actions that can use imagination to blur—even escape—reality.
